Getting a puppy is so exciting! But at the same time, you may feel a little nervous about the first few weeks at his new home. Although we can’t assist you with the pajama drill, we can help you with everything that you will need to bring your puppy home.
Necessities
It can be a little bit overwhelming when you first step into the shop for your first shopping experience. Don’t stress – we’re here to help you guide you through the isles. Grab a shopping basket and come with us.
There are a few items that you have to purchase and then there are some luxuries. You decide what your budget can allow and what not. The following are non-negotiables:
Grooming equipment
- Puppy shampoo and conditioner
- A soft brush
- Nail clippers
- Dental chews
Let’s go walkies
- A collar and/or harness that will fit him now. You can buy a bigger collar or harness later on.
- An identification tag with all your details
- A lead to teach him how to walk on lead
Food
- Find out from the breeder or the shelter the type of food your puppy is on now. You can gradually change his diet when he gets home.
- Puppy treats
Toys
- Safe chew toys are a must for teething
- Soft toys to cuddle with
Comfy bed
- A place where he can sleep at night and nap during the day
- Blankets to keep his small body warm
Bowls
- Stainless steel bowls are more hygienic
- Extra bowls for water to place around the house
Parasite control
- Deworming for puppies
- Tick and flea preventative products for puppies
When your budget allows it
- Training pads
- Playpen to keep him safe during the night
- Poop bags
- A seat harness for when you travel is actually very important for his safety
You can always come back and shop a little more when your puppy has arrived as we have the cutest toys and must-have treats for puppies. You will also want to stock up on his food, so come in and say hi. Don’t forget to show off your puppy – we love dogs so much that we definitely want to ‘ooh’ and ‘aah’ and play with him.
